In this video, I show you a few tips and tricks in Ubuntu 13.04. Remember to like the video and leave a comment on your thoughts!

I talk about these things in the video:
Unity Tweak Tool
Privacy Settings
Synaptic Package Manager
Place Windows

Disable overlay scrollbars:
gsettings set com.canonical.desktop.interface scrollbar-mode normal

Enable overlay scrollbars:
gsettings reset com.canonical.desktop.interface scrollbar-mode

  1. And BTW: In my post on Ubuntu 12.04, it-tactics.blogspot.co.at/2012/06/ubuntu-1204-lts-precise-pangolin.html there is a section "Enhanced usability" where I also tell about a few ccsm hacks to increase usability of Unity.

  2. I prefer the Smart window display mode instead of center because unity then displays new windows automatically where is free space. A few windows I want to have displayed at predefined locations – this can be handled in ccsm -> Windows Placement -> Fixed Window Placement.

  3. I fresh installed 13.04 4 times on my Hp DV-7 laptop and two other PC's over 4 days. I keep hearing from reviews that 13.04 is the most trouble free release ever but Unity broke every time and nothing worked. I went back to 12.04. It's disturbing how much love for this release I've seen. It's reacted worse than even 12.10 did. I'm at my whits end with Ubuntu.
