Video is ready, Click Here to View ×

In this video I will show you how to add the shutdown, restart, sleep and logoff buttons to the taskbar.
Below are the codes you will use to make the buttons.

You can still get Windows 8 Consumers Preview here

C:WindowsSystem32rundll32.exe Powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Sleep

C:WindowsSystem32shutdown.exe -r -t 00

C:WindowsSystem32shutdown.exe -s -t 00

  1. I want a single taskbar & desktop Power Button on my Window 8.1 HP laptop that works just like my Gateway desktop windows 8.1 taskbar Power Button. Click the Power Button and all options appear in a window including Restart, Hibernate, Restart, Shutdown, Logoff. Where can I find one???

  2. only lets me put one of the restart shutdown or logoff ones as it is recognising them all as the same since there directory's are all shutdown.exe and just replaces the already existing one. Not sure if this is because in on windows 7 but other than that the shortcuts work fine. Great video! 🙂

  3. You are welcome. I use RocketDock and I have added the shutdown and restart buttons to that. You can get it at rocketdock. com/download I also use ViStart to add the start button back. Get that at lee-soft. com/news/windows-8-start-menu/
