C Programming in Linux Tutorial using GCC compiler. Tutorial should also be applicable in C/UNIX programming. This video shows an example of how to use the “typedef” statement in a program. It is a statement to create a new name for types.

  1. so in C# for instance when we declare a string it is actually counting the number of chars and pass length and chars to a class method where it makes a struct of chars with length of the string+1 ?!

  2. Okay, I've been following everything well until now; I guess the 2 questions I have are:

    1) Is 'typedef' to be used like REM statements in BASIC?
    2) How do data type names differ from symbolic constants (i.e. #define   name   replacement texts)??
