Hi penncomputers, please help me, i am getting this when i try to activate my new router: 40bits or 104bits depending on your network confinguration.this can be enter as 5 to 13 ascii characters or 10 to 26 hexademical characters.
if you want to use wifi on an old non wifi xp you have to update windows to service pack 3 you can down load sp 3 via the internet .Then go to control panel click on add hard wear , List comes up look for usb un-known ( you may wait have to wait for a bit ) it then find the driver via the inter -net (Note you will need to use a lan cable to do this ) Xp finds the drivers installs I used tp-link driver is realtec 8188cu 11nu usb 2.0 . Once installed wifi icon pops up in task bar connect done .
I am sure that i wrote down the right password but the same message comes again when i click connect: the network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network confinguration.this can be enter as 5 to 13 ascii characters or 10 to 26 hexademical characters.
@8757kathy There is two things you need when connecting to your WiFi. The SSID which is shown in my demo above 32 seconds into the video. The second is the password that is set in your router during setup. See my securing your WiFi router video on my channel.
