Windows 8 Pro comes with “downgrade rights.” If you’re not a fan of Windows 8 when you bought your new computer, you have the right to downgrade it to Windows 7 for free at no addtional charge but remember this only applys to Windows 8 Pro.

This can be a bit of a pain as Microsoft designed this procedure for business users. Home users or individual users will have to go through a number of hoops to downgrade their Windows 8 Pro systems and may…

  1. Could not find a video on how to downgrade windows 7 professional to premium, do you have a video on this? I have windows professional installed on laptop but only have serial nr. (on laptop) for win-7 prem. , which came with laptop originaly but was lost when I replaced the harddrive…..

  2. OK, we need to talk. It might get harder and harder to disable secure boot the more new computers get. Windows 10 computer buyers can earn a sticker that says "Designed for Windows 10". If you have this, you can't put the computer on Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP, 2000, Linux, or even Mac OS X! Also, new Windows 8 computers might not be compatible with Windows 7 or Vista. Eventually it might be impossible to disable secure boot on new computers, Windows 7 support will end and this video will become obsolete.

  3. Great and helpful video, thanks!
Just a quick question. Once downloading drivers before installing win 7 can you save those to recovery also and then once finishing with the windows 7 installation install from the recovery??

  4. Hi. My laptop come with windows vista, did clean install to windows 8.1. can I still connect to WIFI because on another laptop we reinstalled windows 7 and lost WIFI. My laptop is old so I don't know if the manufacturer is still have the drivers. I got a new laptop but I have to save up for it so I have to use my old laptop. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad R400. I don't mind if its windows 7 or vista.

  5. Ok Brian. I have recently installed Windows 8.1 Pro on my computer, and I don't like it. I have a Windows 7 Pro installation disk but not the serial key. Can I use my Windows 8 key there, or will I need to purchase an Windows 7 key? 🙂

  6. its nearly impossible for me to find a windows 7 machine that I want nowadays… Thanks for this! If I ever get a new machine (which I might soon), this will come in handy to look back on! Thank you very much for this walkthrough video. great job 🙂
