  1. Hi Philip, thanks for taking time to look at my problem. The sticker is red style, Windows 8.I have a licence number from RW Evertything, since posting my initial comment I ran it through something called PID which tells me it's a Win 8.1 Core OEM:DMThis PC is French version, was bought new by myself for my wife, from a large reputable distributor. My wife left it unused for some time because low performance but recently her full-size laptop has issues so she wanted to restart the Asus. It was looping on the BIOS screen, after a web search I thought it was possible to download & reinstall W8 from the MS web site. That works except it's a "retail" version and it won't activate (not by itself, not accepting my licence key, not launching the slui 4 process)
Any help or suggestion appreciated !

  2. Hi, I was hoping this would solve my issue but no joy. I have a Asus T100TA which recovery partition seems damaged, I could restore a Win8.1 but that's the retail version from MS abd does not accept my OEM key for activation. Any suhhestion ?

  3. Thank god for this tutorial. Going to replace this slowly dying hard drive tomorrow and my heart jumped when I couldnt find any Windows 8 installation ISOs anywhere, and the microsoft support even gave me wrong info saying this 8.1 installation ISO does not accept Windows 8 OEM product keys. If everything goes to hell, at least those generic keys buy some more time to sort this thing out, without having to use this old drive which is going to bust under usage any moment now.

Would be so stupid to be forced to buy a new product key every single time you have to replace any part of your machine.

  4. Hello! I have been trying to download the ISO, but is just not working. I am using the Windows Installation Media Creation, but it stays on 0% all the time!

  5. why cant i download the window medai creation tool, it gives me a 404 and says "The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable"

  6. I want a clean installation of windows 8.1

IN my system my version is windows 8.1 Single Language with Bing.
Now I'm downloading the ISO in media creation by microsoft but it only have the windows 8.1 single language.

I'm just wondering If my version is equal to single language..?

  7. I have an OEM windows 8 product key embedded in my laptops BIOS. I wasn't sure about the version of windows 8 that I have. I downloaded the single language one and when I run the setup in windows it comes up on the screen with the product key page saying 'this key doesn't work, try another one'. Does this mean my windows 8 version is not single language and I should download the Windows 8 simple edition or home edition? When I input the generic key it works though

  8. Lots of questions:
    my pc just says 8.1
    * How do I know which one that is Home or single language?
also, I'm trying to install Win 8.1 on a SSD.
My Dell pc came with Win 8.
    * Do I install Win 8 then use the Product Key I have then upgrade to 8.1?
    * How do I do this using the virtual machine you're using?
    * Where do you get the generic keys?
