  2. Hello Marcelo, is this still the preferred method to use, the Server edition? I want to have Ubuntu MATE Desktop, (either 14.04, 14.10 or 15.04) on RAID0 using two old 32gb SSD's. Do I have to use Server and then convert it to MATE desktop edition? Is that possible?

EDIT: Or should I install Ubuntu Server 14.04 in RAID 0, then simply upgrade it to Ubuntu MATE 14.10? I assume Ubuntu has no problems upgrading to the desktop edition on top of the server edition?EDIT: Never mind me, I just discovered Ubuntu already supports the onboard BIOS raid. Extremely easy just to use the BIOS and set it to RAID 0. Ubuntu immediately seen it as one drive. Just perfect….

  3. If you get "error:  Diskfilter writes are not supported" on boot it is a grub bug.

    To fix it

    Edit 10_linux

    sudo nano /etc/grub.d/10_linux

    Replace quick_boot="1" with quick_boot="0"

    save and exit

    and run the command

    sudo update-grub
