Installing HortonWorks Hadoop on Windows 7

  1. First Issue :
The import failed because D:DMHadoopSandbox_HDP_2.3_VMWare.ova did not pass OVF specification conformance or virtual hardware compliance checks.

Click Retry to relax OVF specification and virtual hardware compliance checks and try the import again, or click Cancel to cancel the import. If you retry the import, you might not be able to use the virtual machine in VMware Player.

    Second Issue:
Failed to open virtual machine: Disk (Sandbox_HDP_2.3_VMWare-disk1.vmdk) could not be found. –

  2. For me it is showing the following error. I have checked and the VT-x is enabled on my PC. Mine is Win-8.1. Please help!!!

This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit guest operating systems. However, 64-bit operation is not possible.

This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is disabled.

Intel VT-x might be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or the host has not been power-cycled since changing this setting.

    (1) Verify that the BIOS/firmware settings enable Intel VT-x and disable 'trusted execution.'

    (2) Power-cycle the host if either of these BIOS/firmware settings have been changed.

    (3) Power-cycle the host if you have not done so since installing VMware Player.

    (4) Update the host's BIOS/firmware to the latest version.

  3. Worked like a charm on my VMware server. created a virtual machine in min 48 seconds.  Started it and it came up to the web admin page in about 3 minutes.
Like the guy short straight , sweet.

On the VMWare player 5.1 it took an hour to start up. and another to load the ova file. Win7 did not work for me.  Win7 pro with 16gb ram 120gb ssd hd.
