This tutorial will go over the following things:
1. How to capture your screen using gtk-recordMyDesktop
2. How to capture your audio using gtk-recordMyDestop
3. How to capture your microphone using gtk-recordMyDesktop
4. How to do the following simultaneously

The Process:
1. Install gtk-recordmydesktop, jack2, and qjackctl
Package Names:
Arch Linux: sudo pacman -S gtk-recordmydesktop jack2 qjackctl
Ubuntu/Mint/Debian: sudo apt-get install gtk-recordmydesktop jackd2 qjackctl


  1. btw, when you start the "jack server" it will stop the video sound of your youtube video if you are watching and following along..

  2. Great video & information Tallix. I could not get it to work via terminal, but this is what worked for me.
    In URL, type for latest repositories to search & install for gtk-recordmydesktop, jack2 & qjackctl.
    The following Linux Distro's are supported. Arch Linux, CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Rosa, Mageia, Open Mandriva, OpenSUSE, Slackware & Ubuntu.
