Quantum Break PC: Better on DirectX 11! GTX 970/1060 vs RX 480 Gameplay Frame-Rate Tests

The new Steam version of Quantum Break runs on DirectX 11 – improving performance over the DIrectX 12 release on the Windows 10 Store. Nvidia cards get a noticeable frame-rate boost (up to 33% on the GTX 970) with DirectX 11, but curiously AMD cards such as RX 480 run identically either way. Tom explains all.

  1. I was playing this in a pirated version. I think DX 11 with the 1050Ti
And I was getting a very smooth experience with high up to 50s and lowest didn't go under 30.
    My complete specs
    Core i5 2400 3.1 Ghz
    GTX 1050Ti
    8GB DDR3 Ram
    In custom graphics settings
    Of highs ultra and medium.

  2. Yeah, no improvements in dx12 at all, fucking nvidia shills. Just because the Nvidiots put all their money into DX11 doesn't mean that the world should stand still while Vulkan and DX12 do a better job of rendering most any game that is ported over to it (or made for it).

  3. Garbage game that looks nowhere realistic as Assasins Creed Unity and Rise of Tomb Raider which runs better than this shit.

The frametime isn't even good as ACU. Drops to 48 FPS on ACU doesn't feel bad as Quantam Broke.

  4. AMD has already stated that they are making gpu and drivers for dx12 and vulkan. They are no longer concentrating efforts for legacy drivers, i.e. dx11 and lower. Most games will move over to dx12 and vulkan in the future so all your Nvidia cards will run like shit on newer games.

  5. You can grab a 970 from ebay for around $150. The 1060 goes for $250 and the RX480 $220. Right now the 970 is still a valid option at 1080. In the future it'll begin to lag behind when games start taking advantage of the new architecture.

  6. How is that even possible, I have i5 6500 gtx 1060 8gb ram and the game is constantly dropping under 20??? 40-50 stable for few seconds then BOOM 5 fps for good amount of time. ^^
And some times even stucks on 30, wtf is happening? dx11

  8. If you run it with upscaling on, it ain't terrible. You are running at 720p essentially. But as soon as you turn it off, bam. My 980 at 1080p is unplayable, unless you drop settings dramatically. See its technically 30-40fps, which doesn't bother me. But it actually looks and plays like its in the low 20s. Even with a 30fps cap.
Love Remedy to death. I do. Just this version of the game 'and really, the game in general' didn't cut it for me personally.

  9. Wtf is wrong with the developers these days… every fucking single game run like shit on pc lately.. they must get their shit together! We can't upgrade our build every month just because they can't/don't want optimize their games..fuck this shit!!!

  10. WTF is it with gamers on youtube saying "for the most part". Be lazy already, you can just say 'mostly' or a dozen other synonyms, why would you want to say 4 words instead of one, for the most part.

  11. guys i'm really pissed at the state of pc gaming right now. Not only are we getting one crap port after another, but after watching a few of digital foundry's latest videos, it seems consoles are catching up to pc hardware way superior, case in point the gtx 970. This can be seen in games like FH3, quantum break and even gears 4 where there is little to no visual difference between the two and bullshit frame rates on pc like in mafia 3 and FH3 .

  12. One day a game will arrive that will become the new benchmark for DX12, it will be so good I will be forced to upgrade to the pile of shite Win10 and splash out on a 1080…a shitty console port from MS is most definitely NOT that game…Upscaling?…do me a favour lol.
Rocking and rolling on Win7 64 with my GTX 970 until that day arrives.
