  1. We need to find out what the hell is causing this , not just have a bring it back every damned time the computer gets shut down . This is true bull shit right here, It;s from something on some up date and I don't know how far back it goes. It is pissing me off. Microsoft has got top know about it and is just doing nothing.

Like that f'ing update that is on there right now. 234Mb of bullshit roll up. I loaded and had to retract and its still making me have to look at the damned thing they have not fixed it and it fries my whole system. i would not be surprised if the volume thing is connected to this

  2. Build your own batch file and keep it handy. Use the following. Copy and paste it into Notepad or Notepad++. Save with the name Rebuild_Icon_Cache.bat. Note your computer will restart at the end so save everything before running.

    @echo off
    set iconcache=%localappdata%IconCache.db

echo The Explorer process must be ended to delete the Icon DB.
    echo.
echo Please SAVE ALL OPEN WORK before continuing.
    echo.
    pause
    echo.
    If exist "%iconcache%" goto delID
    echo.
echo Icon DB has already been deleted.
    echo.
    pause
    exit /B

    :delID
echo Attempting to delete Icon DB…
    echo.
    ie4uinit.exe -ClearIconCache
    taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F
    del "%iconcache%" /A
    del "%localappdata%MicrosoftWindowsExplorericoncache*" /A
    echo.
echo Icon DB has been successfully deleted. Please "restart your PC" now to rebuild your icon cache.
    echo.
    start explorer.exe
    pause
    exit /B

  3. This is a temporary solution though. It works but when you restart your computer or open another time the sound icon is gone. I need to do it like everytime I open my pc which is annoying.

  4. Wow. This reminds me of the tutorials I've been doing lately. I got so fed up and tired of looking up a tutorial and 15 minutes of it, is nothing relevant to the subject. But this tutorial, was extremely concise and it did not stray from the subject topic. I'll have to give this a shot and see if it works for me. Thank you.
